Current research practices compel students to cover larger topic domains and seek out more diverse sets of research materials. These materials may come from unconventional sources that differ from traditional research publications, and may contain multimedia components. Maintaining and searching a personal library of these materials is becoming increasingly difficult. In addition, it is also becoming difficult to compile a proper listing of citations for these research materials.
Given that the research materials are being improved by computer technology, the manner in which a researcher collects these materials must also be improved using advanced computer techniques. This presentation introduces the Zotero utility, which works from within the Firefox browser to help the user collect and maintain their personal library of research materials.
