As part of the process of setting up the WRF for use as a nested regional climate model that gave reasonable results in a feasible amount of computational time, a number of quirks and other interesting issues have been found, some of which would not be apparent while using the WRF in a more traditional manner for short-term cases. Physics, dynamics, domain, boundary, nesting, and other options have been explored along the way, and a switch from version 2.2 to version 3.0.1 was made.

In this seminar, I will present the impact some of these changes had on precipitation in the WRF. Where possible, I will also try to explain their occurrence. Plenty of time for discussion will be included and, time permitting, some preliminary results on the impact of climate change on precipitation will be shown.
